Publications & White Papers

STAC contributes to publications, white papers, and collaborative field-facing work that help shape conversations in science education, inclusion, assessment, and the thoughtful use of AI. Our work includes both authored publications and contributions to broader cross-organizational efforts.
Featured Publications
Exploring the Data: A Comprehensive Review of Research on Probeware and Three-Dimensional Teaching
This white paper examines the role of probeware in supporting three-dimensional science teaching and learning. It reviews research on how real-time data collection can deepen student sensemaking, strengthen engagement, and support more authentic scientific investigation. Co-authored by Velma Itamura and Christopher Lazzaro, this publication reflects STAC’s commitment to science learning grounded in evidence, phenomena, and meaningful classroom practice.
Focus areas: Science instruction, three-dimensional learning, probeware, sensemaking, research synthesis
AI + Learning Differences: Designing a Future with No Boundaries
STAC collaborated on the first AI + Learning Differences Symposium and Hackathon with the Stanford Accelerator for Learning. This white paper shares key ideas and takeaways from that work, exploring how AI can better support learners with disabilities and learning differences through inclusive design, co-design, educator support, and long-term systems thinking.
Focus areas: AI, inclusive design, accessibility, learning differences, educator support, future of learning
How We Contribute
